Are we all BOUND by norms?

In this gloomy winter don't waste your time by sitting around. This is the perfect time to read a dramatic sad story while gazing at the snow which is in your backyard, through the kitchen window. The cover of the book has its unique way to attract readers through the combination of red, white, and black color. The name of the story is "Bound". The story took place in China at the time of the Mongols. When china used to rule by the kings, the ending of the story is almost like Cinderella but its unique way of telling a story of a girl who lives completely in a different culture and different country make the reader hungry to know "What's going to happen to this girl?". There are some people who don't like to read books. I will highly recommend this book to them. This is the perfect book to read on the subway while going somewhere.

Let's talk about the book. The story is about a girl name Xing Xing. they are a middle-class family. Xing Xing's mother died when she was seven years old and her father died when she was thirteen years old. After losing both of her beloved parents she was bound to stay with her stepmother and her step-sister, "Wei Peing" . Just to have a normal life, she becomes very obedient towards her step-sister, or otherwise, she always has this anxiety, if she didn't listen to her stepmother she would sell her as a slave. this practice was very common at that time. She bears hardship just to stay in her parents' house because of her stepmother.

Wei Ping's cannot walk because of her foot-binding that's why the stepmother makes Xing Xing do every work around the house. Xing Xing used to live as a slave in her own house. She used to wear one rotten dress every day. The stepmother loves her daughter very much. When Xing Xing's mother was alive stepmother didn't use to love her own daughter because the stepmother wanted a son. When Xing Xing's mother died she wanted Xing Xing to stay beside her father and do every work of her mother as a wife. Because that last wish of Xing Xing's mother makes her stepmother very angry that's the moment for Wei Ping to find love from her own mother. Xing Xing was having a beautiful life until her father died.

After her father died stepmother become very attentive towards Wei ping and started to look for a husband for her Xing Xing might not get married because she has a beautiful gift from her father that is poetry and calligraphy. That was a painful tradition for girls in china. But she didn't mind at all, she loves to have that gift and she has the desire to earn more knowledge about the world. She did so much for her stepmother and stepsister nobody does those in real life. She went on a long journey to find the cure for her stepsister's disease so that We ping can get a husband. In return stepmother never love her. Every morning Xing Xing used to go to the riverside to bring water there she meet a fish, which usually give her a piece of mind. She believes that fish has her mother's spirit. So whenever she went to the riverside she feel the warmth of her mother. She feels like she is not lonely anymore. that fish only come towards her. But that fish was also taken by her stepmother, who makes her daughter eat that fish. That's the time when she starts standing for herself.

In this book, the author portrayed some of the Chinese culture and traditions. Whatever happens in the story is similar to Cinderella's story but I love the ending. The author took the basic idea of ending from Cinderella but still I believe the author mixes some of her beauty of imagination and makes the story unique in her own way.
