Why Advancing Technology Demands More, Not Less, Investment in Quality Education

The last couple of years, there has been a shift in societal attitudes, with an emphasis on alternative paths to generate income, such as social media influencing and gig work, rather than traditional education and employment. Many people are opting to become Uber drivers, working as a cashier, do multiple jobs or focus on building a YouTube/TikTok presence instead of pursuing traditional route of education. This trend is concerning, as it may discourage the next generation from pursuing a proper, well-rounded education. Education not only provides knowledge, but also teaches important soft skills like socialization, teamwork, and independent work - skills that are crucial for success in the modern, technology-driven workforce. As technology continues to advance, organizations will require more educated and skilled employees, not less. Simply relying on AI and automation is not a sustainable solution, as businesses will still need knowledgeable workers to operate, monitor and enhance these new systems. The transition to new technologies often requires more, not fewer, employees to ensure efficient and productive operations.
